Sleeping Driver Charged With Dangerous Driving
Our client fell asleep at the wheel of his HGV and collided with another vehicle. He was facing a minimum period of disqualification of 12 months with an order to resit an extended test of competency to drive. Following protracted but fruitful negotiations with senior prosecutors we managed to persuade the Crown to withdraw the charge and issue a fixed penalty for 3 points and £100 fine. This was a unique case with a political edge and had to be handled very delicately. Needless to say, our client was delighted with the outcome.
