Tractor Overtake Gone Wrong Licence Saved

This case involved a dangerous driving charge where it was alleged that an overtaking manoeuvre had been performed in contravention of a solid white line system which resulted in a collision with another vehicle.

Context is everything with these cases we were able to provide the Crown with a reasonable explanation for the driving which was more eloquent of careless driving rather that the originally libelled charge of dangerous driving.

The Crown agreed with our position and accordingly a plea of guilty was tendered to a reduced charge of careless driving which resulted in an endorsement of penalty points rather than a period of disqualification. This matter concluded in Dumfries Sheriff Court on 14 January 2022.
