HGV Driver Cleared Of Dangerous Driving
HGV drivers require their driving licence in order to make a living. Due to fleet insurance policy restrictions, often drivers must not have more than 6 penalty points. Our client was accused of allowing his lorry to veer to the left and into the hard shoulder of the M90 at Milnathort whilst reading a magazine. We spent a great deal of time making investigations into the veracity of the claims and managed to persuade the Crown that there was insufficient evidence in law to establish that our client had been reading a magazine whilst driving. Accordingly, a plea was accepted to careless driving and our client's licence was endorsed with 6 penalty points. This was a very serious case and our client was delighted with the fantastic outcome.
